Origins:My Garden Stuff articles first appeared in TheEastbourne Herald (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) as a contributed monthly column. Now, with permission and some editing I am starting to reproduce these as a blog.
My first column was published in November 2016 so, as I launch my blog in September 2020, I have over 40 of them to upload...
Size and style: The strict space limitation of the original column (<400 words) meant the wording had to be pretty terse and the content sometimes incomplete. With a bit more space here, I have tried to correct the latter but have persisted with the former. They seem to make sense.
Scope: My Garden Stuff articles cover a wide range of topics - much wider than the average newspaper garden column. And some of those I've seen read more like their aim is to sell particular garden products.
I have no marketing or financial interest in these writings but instead wish to share with you a love for science and for plants. Also, for a way of living that's more in tune with nature and hence more sustainable.
Opinion: You, the reader, may not always agree with me. That's fine. I'm happy to engage in brief email discussion with you, should you feel I should become better educated.
Structure:The blog pages appear in inverse serial-number order. The number of pages will grow month by month, until either I give up or the Eastbourne Herald ceases to indulge me...
